Route Map
Essential Information

1. Best Time for the Gorkha Bazar Motorbike Tour

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are generally the best seasons for this tour, with comfortable riding temperatures and clearer mountain views. Monsoon can bring rain and slippery roads, while winter mornings and evenings can be cooler in the hills.

2. Road Conditions and Riding Experience

The route combines paved highways, winding hill roads and countryside sections. The ride from Kathmandu to Gorkha follows scenic river valleys, while the roads toward Bandipur, Pokhara and Chitwan provide a mixture of hill curves and smoother highway riding. Basic mountain-road riding experience is helpful, but the tour does not involve the extreme high-altitude terrain found on Nepal's major Himalayan motorcycle expeditions.

3. Historic Gorkha and Gorkha Durbar

Gorkha is one of Nepal's most historically important destinations and is closely associated with King Prithvi Narayan Shah and the unification of Nepal. Gorkha Durbar sits on a hilltop above Gorkha Bazaar and can be reached by an uphill walk and staircase. The palace complex also provides views across the surrounding hills and Himalayan ranges on clear days.

4. Bandipur Newari Heritage

The journey continues to Bandipur, a preserved hill settlement known for its traditional Newari architecture, stone-paved streets, wooden details and peaceful old bazaar. It is an opportunity to experience Nepal's historic hill-town culture away from the main highways.

5. Pokhara and Himalayan Views

Pokhara adds a relaxed lakeside experience to the tour. Riders can enjoy time around Phewa Lake and, depending on weather and the planned activities, experience boating and Himalayan views. The city provides a contrast to the historic hill settlements visited earlier in the journey.

6. Chitwan National Park and Tharu Culture

The route descends from the hills into the warmer Terai before reaching Chitwan. The tour includes jungle activities such as jeep safari, canoeing and nature experiences, along with an opportunity to experience traditional Tharu culture. Chitwan is also home to diverse wildlife, including the one-horned rhinoceros and many bird species.

7. Changing Landscapes from Hills to Terai

One of the highlights of this motorbike tour is the variety of landscapes. Riders travel from Kathmandu's hills through river valleys and historic hill towns, then descend toward the subtropical plains of Chitwan before returning toward Kathmandu. This makes the tour more about Nepal's changing landscapes and cultures than high-altitude riding.

8. Altitude and Weather

This is a relatively low-altitude motorcycle journey compared with Upper Mustang, Manang or other Himalayan expeditions. The itinerary's listed highest point is around 1,400 m, so serious altitude acclimatization is generally not a major concern. Weather can still change between the hill areas, Pokhara and the warmer Chitwan plains.

9. Motorcycle and Mechanical Support

You can choose a motorcycle suitable for your riding preference and route conditions. A professional mechanic accompanies the tour. For groups of 4–15 riders, a dedicated support vehicle is included for luggage, spare parts and assistance; groups of 1–3 riders travel with the motorcycle and mechanic without a support vehicle.

10. Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation is arranged in hotels and lodges in Kathmandu, Gorkha, Bandipur, Pokhara and Chitwan. The package currently lists all hotel accommodation and meals during the tour, with a mixture of Nepali and other familiar food options available along the route.

11. Heritage, National Park and Entry Fees

The tour includes applicable heritage-site entry tickets, Chitwan National Park entry and other listed permits and entry fees. Personal expenses, drinks, travel insurance and Nepal visa fees are excluded.
